Originally from Baguio City in the Philippines, Ina Cariño — and founder of the poetry reading series Indigena Collective, a platform that aims to center marginalized creatives in the NC community— is a 2022 Whiting Award winner for poetry, with work appearing in the American Poetry Review, the Margins, Guernica, Poetry Northwest, Poetry Magazine, the Paris Review Daily, Waxwing, New England Review, and elsewhere.
She is a Kundiman fellow and is the winner of the 2021 Alice James Award for Feast (Alice James Books, 2023), her book of writings that we sold out of like immedialtey.
Outside of all of this, you can catch Ina around Downtown Raleigh pretty regulary, as well as at numerous readings, speaking engagements, and even our Basement Battle series!
